April 2023
As in previous years, Screen NS has recently applied for Science Found ation Ireland’s ‘Curious Minds’ Award. This is a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) award and allows us to showcase some of the amazing work that classes have been doing throughout the year. Some of the fantastic lessons involved completing science experiments, using Beebots, completing Maths trails and interviewing Brenda, an engineer, about her work. Please find below some pictures of pupils taking part in these lessons. We will hear the result of our application in June. Thank you for reading!
Discover Primary Science and Maths (DPSM) is the national programme, run by Science Foundation Ireland, to foster interest in science, technology engineering and maths amongst children in primary schools.
Last year was our 15th year taking part in this initiative.
Even though Covid-19 closures occurred, Ms Kent still submitted our entry securing our 15th plaque using photos of all the amazing scientific and maths work completed before such closures.
We at Screen NS would like to say a massive thank you to her and all the children and staff involved in the participation of this wonderful initiative.
